Agra: Three members of a family, including a three-year-old girl, were killed and three others injured after a truck carrying paper rolls rammed into a sand-laden truck on NH-34 near Painethi village under Akrabad police station in Aligarh district early Tuesday morning.
Police and ambulance teams rushed to the spot after being alerted by locals and shifted the victims to a govt hospital. Two victims were declared brought dead, while another succumbed during treatment.
Police said the truck was travelling from Kannauj to Yamunanagar in Haryana when the driver likely dozed off, causing the vehicle to crash into a sand-loaded truck moving in the same direction.
Virendra, 35, the driver’s brother, and his son Nitesh, 20, died on the spot, while three-year-old granddaughter Suryanshi died during treatment. The injured were identified as driver
Shivpal Singh, 45, his daughter Vijay Nandani, 25, and four-year-old son Suryaansh.
DSP Garvit Singh said, “The bodies have been sent for postmortem, and the family members of the deceased have been informed. A case will be registered after receiving a police complaint.”
An officer posted at Akrabad police station said the traffic on NH-34 was briefly disrupted following the accident.
