Mathura: Three people were killed and two others injured after two motorcycles collided head-on in Mathura’s Jamunapar area, officials said on Saturday. The accident took place near Sihora turn on Laxmi Nagar-Mahavan road around 4pm on Friday when a motorcycle carrying two riders crashed into another carrying three.Police said initial findings suggest that none of the riders was wearing a helmet and both motorcycles were moving at high speed. Locals rushed to the spot and informed police, who took the victims to hospital in ambulances.One of the motorcycles was ridden by Gopichandra Singh, 18, a Class 10 student, who was returning to his village from Laxmi Nagar with his friend Chhotu Kumar, 18, who helped support his family by making decorative clothes for idols of Lord Krishna.The other motorcycle was carrying Saurabh Sharma, 20, a resident of Gokul and a cow protection volunteer, along with Piyush Singh, 19, and Udal Singh, 18, and was headed towards Laxmi Nagar. All three deceased were unmarried, according to their relatives.Police said Gopichandra, Chhotu and Saurabh died, while Piyush and Udal were injured. DSP (Mathura) PP Singh said, “The bodies have been handed over to the families after postmortem and the injured are being treated at district hospital. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.”
