A Turkish-flagged fishing boat was attacked and sunk in the Black Sea, killing one sailor and injuring four others in an incident that has raised fresh concerns about security in waters affected by the war in Ukraine. The vessel, identified as the Duru 67, was reportedly struck west of Sevastopol in Crimea before a rescue operation was launched. According to Turkish authorities, the injured crew members suffered wounds caused by shrapnel fragments and were evacuated by another fishing vessel before being transferred to a Turkish Coast Guard ship carrying medical personnel. One of the injured sailors later died while being transported back to Turkey. The attack comes just a day after a maritime drone exploded at Romania’s Black Sea port of Constanta, prompting the evacuation of more than 1,300 people from nearby beaches.
