Agra: A 16-year-old boy died after coming in contact with a high-tension power line in Sikandrarao area of Hathras district on Monday evening. The deceased was a resident of Habibpur village.
Family members said
Vinod Kumar had fenced a small patch of land outside the village for cattle and was putting iron wire around it. While throwing a bundle of wire across the roadside, it accidentally touched an overhead high-tension electricity line.
Eyewitnesses said flames erupted from his body. Locals alerted the electricity department, but the power supply was disconnected only after several minutes. By then, Vinod had died. Police later sent the body for postmortem examination.
Hathras DM Atul Vats said, “A probe has been ordered following allegations of negligence by the power department.”
Sikandrarao police station SHO Shiv Kumar Sharma said a complaint had been received and forwarded to the SDM, who is investigating the matter.
