NDA leads in Assam and Puducherry, BJP ahead in West Bengal
Counting is underway across Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, with early trends emerging across all four assemblies. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, well past the majority mark on current trends. Congress and its allies are trailing with a tally of 22, all from leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, where the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat assembly, SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 seats won and 53 leads. NDA trails with a tally of 55, all from leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in 105 seats and have won 10, giving them a combined tally of 115, still 3 short of the majority mark if those leads hold. West Bengal, the largest of the four with 294 seats and a majority mark of 148, sees BJP leading with a tally of 179, comprising 11 won and 168 leading seats, crossing the majority threshold on current trends. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, from 2 won and 104 leading seats. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats decide a majority in the 30-seat house, NDA has a tally of 18 with 13 seats already won and 5 leads, crossing the majority mark on present trends. SPA has a tally of 5, from 2 won and 3 leads. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7, with 5 won and 2 leads.
