The United States launched a drone strike against an Islamic State attack planner in eastern Afghanistan on Friday, the military said, a day after a suicide bombing at Kabul airport killed 13 US troops and scores of Afghan civilians. ISIS bombings near Kabul's international airport on Thursday killed 170 people, including many Afghans and American troops. It was the deadliest day for US forces in Afghanistan since August 2011. UK says it is in last stages of Kabul evacuations, processing ended
British forces have entered the final stages of evacuating people from Kabul's airport and processing facilities have closed, Britain's defence ministry said on Friday. The effort would now focus on evacuating British nationals and others who have already been cleared to leave and are already at the airport, the ministry said. No further people would be called forward to the airport for evacuation, it said. (Reuters)

Strongly condemning the terrorist strikes in Afghanistan's capital Kabul, India has told the UN security council that these attacks reinforce the need for the world to stand unitedly against terrorism and all those who provide sanctuaries to terrorists.
Australia said Friday it pulled all its troops out of Afghanistan shortly before the Kabul airport bombings after receiving "very clear intelligence" of an impending attack. (AFP)

Islamic State claims responsibility for Kabul airport attack
The Islamic State's affiliate in Afghanistan, known as The Islamic State-Khorasan Province after a name for the region from antiquity, said in its claim of responsibility that it targeted American troops and their Afghan allies. IS also said the bomber managed to get past Taliban security checkpoints to come within 5 metres (yards) of a gathering of US soldiers, translators and collaborators before detonating his explosives.
