The new trailer for the upcoming superhero series 'Lanterns' has officially dropped online, offering fans a look at the new adaptation on DC Comics' Green Lantern Corps. The latest footage teases an intergalactic mystery while showcasing the powers of the iconic Green Lantern ring.

The trailer features a glimpse of a mysterious planet that appears far removed from Earth, along with Hal Jordan, played by Kyle Chandler, suited up in the classic Lantern Corps uniform. Taking a step up from the first trailer, this one puts the rings' powers on full display, much to the excitement of fans.

The trailer also teases the uneasy partnership between Hal Jordan and new recruit John Stewart (Aaron Pierre), who is trying to prove himself and claims, "I’ll do this better than [Jordan] has ever done it before."The trailer also confirms that Nathan Fillion will reprise his role as Guy Gardner following his appearance in last year’s 'Superman'. It also gives fans a first look at Laura Linney, officially joining the cast in an undisclosed role.

According to the official synopsis, the series follows “new recruit John Stewart and Lantern legend Hal Jordan, two intergalactic cops drawn into a dark, earth-based mystery as they investigate a murder in the American heartland.”

'Lanterns' cast and premiere date

The eight-episode series, co-written by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, and directed by James Hawes along with Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel and Alik Sakharov. The series, originally developed as a Max original, the project later shifted to HBO as part of Warner Bros. Discovery’s revised content strategy. Also starring Kyle Chandler, Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Jason Ritter, and Ulrich Thomsen, is set for an August 16 premiere.DC Studios heads James Gunn and Peter Safran are also attached as executive producers, alongside Ron Schmidt.
