The famous Bengal poll slogan “Khela Hobe” has returned as Mamata Banerjee fired a sharp political warning at the BJP during a rally in Kolkata. The Chief Minister’s speech comes after the BJP announced that Suvendu Adhikari will challenge her from Bhabanipur in the upcoming Assembly election. Adhikari had defeated Mamata Banerjee in the dramatic 2021 Nandigram contest, making the rivalry one of the most intense in state politics. At the rally, Mamata accused the BJP of encouraging violence following an alleged attack on minister Shashi Panja’s residence in Kolkata. Police have already arrested several people linked to the clash. The Chief Minister also criticised administrative changes ahead of the elections and questioned the removal of senior officials. Despite the tensions, Mamata told supporters that her party was ready for the fight. With the BJP stepping into her political stronghold, the battle for Bengal appears to have begun once again.
