The government has confirmed that 10 foreign-flagged ships carrying critical energy supplies to India are currently stranded in the Persian Gulf, along with 18 Indian vessels operating in the region. Shipping Ministry Special Secretary Rajesh Sinha stated that the impacted vessels include three carrying LPG, four transporting crude oil, and three loaded with LNG. The situation has raised serious concerns over potential disruptions to India’s energy supply chain, especially amid rising tensions in the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz. The government is closely monitoring developments and prioritising the safe movement of India-bound cargo, as the maritime corridor remains crucial for the country’s oil and gas imports.
