Turkey has unveiled its first intercontinental ballistic missile, Yildirimhan, marking a major leap in its long-range strike capabilities. The missile was showcased at the SAHA 2026 International Defense Aerospace and Space Industry Fair in Istanbul, highlighting Ankara’s growing push toward self-reliance in advanced defense technology. Developed by the Turkish National Defense Ministry’s R&D center, the missile is reported to have a range of 6,000 kilometers—capable of reaching targets across Europe, Asia, and Africa. It uses liquid nitrogen tetroxide as fuel and is powered by four rocket engines, with speeds estimated between Mach 9 and Mach 25. Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Güler described the system as the country’s longest-range missile and a major milestone in strengthening national defense.
