Meanwhile, Pakistani troops have opened fire along the Line of Control in Uri sector of Kashmir, two days after 18 soldiers were killed in a terror attack at the Army camp in Uri.

Following criticism on social media for announcing a Rs 5 lakh each compensation for the three martyred soldiers in the Uri attack, the Bihar government on Tuesday raised the compensation to Rs 11 lakh, officials said.

"Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered to increase the compensation from earlier announced Rs 5 lakh to Rs 11 lakh each for the kin of the three soldiers from the state, who lost their lives in the terror attack on Sunday," said an official.

Official sources said the NIA team, which was now camping at Uri, would collect the DNA samples of the four unidentified terrorists and their pictures would be shown to Jaish cadres lodged in various jails of the state as well as other parts of the country.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh today again reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir with top officials, including NSA Ajit Doval and Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar, in the wake of the terror attack in Uri.

Doval and top officials of the ministries of Home and Defence, paramilitary forces and chiefs of intelligence agencies briefed Singh on the prevailing situation in the Kashmir Valley as well as along the Line of Control, official sources said.

The presence of the Foreign Secretary in the meeting is significant as government plans to launch a diplomatic offensive against Pakistan.

Patriotism is something which Havildar Nimb Singh Rawat inherited from his father Krishna Singh, a soldier who fought in World War II.

As the news of Rawat's martyrdom, who was with 6 Bihar regiment, reached his native village Rajwa in Rajsamand district, the villagers, especially senior citizens, recalled the service of his father in the Army and, later, with the police.

Our thoughts are with families of the murdered soldiers and many who have been injured. Germany stands resolutely at India's side in fight against terrorism, share the view that every country is responsible for taking decisive action against terrorism emanating from its territory. Terrorists' aim is for situation to escalate; we must not give into this logic, including in conflicts between India and Pakistan.

A delegation of West Pakistani refugees today met Union Minister Jitendra Singh and demanded action against Pakistan in the wake of Sunday's Uri attack. The members of delegation said that they are among the earliest victims of Pakistan hostility towards India and have suffered injustice for nearly seven decades since the time of partition. The bodies of seven Indian Army soldiers belonging to UP and Bihar, who lost their lives in Sunday's terrorist attack in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport, Babatpur by a special aircraft on Monday afternoon. Soon after the arrival of the bodies the wreath laying ceremony took place at the airport.
