Mortal remains of seven Uri martyrs reach Varanasi

The bodies of seven Indian Army soldiers belonging to UP and Bihar, who lost their lives in Sunday’s terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri, were brought to Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport in Varanasi by a special aircraft on Monday afternoon.

VARANASI: The bodies of seven Indian Army soldiers belonging to UP and Bihar, who lost their lives in Sunday’s terrorist attack in Uri, Jammu and Kashmir, were brought to Lal Bahadur Shastri International airport, Babatpur by a special aircraft on Monday afternoon.
Four martyrs including Lance Naik RK Yadav, Sepoy Ganesh Shankar, Sepoy Harinder Yadav, and Sepoy Rajesh Kumar Singh belonged to eastern UP, while three brave hearts Havildar Ashok Kumar Singh, Sepoy Rakesh Singh and Naik Sunil Kumar Vidyarthi were the natives of Bihar.

Soon after the arrival of the bodies the wreath laying ceremony took place at the airport. Major General SK Singh, GOC, Purva UP and MP area, Allahabad, and Brigadier SA Rehman, commandant 39 Gorkha Training Centre laid the wreath to honour these martyrs followed by a guard of honour. Senior administrative officials including divisional commissioner Nitin Ramesh Gokarn and district magistrate Vijay Kiran Anand were also at the airport to receive the mortal remains of the martyrs. Further the mortal remains were taken to their respective homes, duly escorted by army personnel for laying them to rest finally.
Lance Naik RK Yadav belonged to Ballia district, Sepoy Ganesh Shankar belonged to Sant Kabir Nagar, Sepoy Harinder Yadav belonged to Ghazipur district, and Sepoy Rajesh Kumar Singh belonged to Jaunpur district of UP. Havildar Ashok Kumar Singh was the native of Bhojpur district, Sepoy Rakesh Singh belonged to Ara district and Naik Sunil Kumar Vidyarthi belonged to Gaya district of Bihar.
