Disha Madan says stepping into Bhavana Lakshmi Nivasa was never part of her plan, until destiny and a little encouragement from home stepped in.
“This serial happened purely by chance,” Disha shares with ETimes. “I had actually said no initially. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to commit to a daily serial at that point. But my husband encouraged me and told me, ‘You need to get back to your routine and do what you love.’ That push made all the difference.”
‘Bhavana is a never-seen-before side of me’
Talking about her character Bhavana, Disha admits the role came with its own set of fears and excitement. “Playing Bhavana feels amazing,” she says. “It’s a completely never-before-seen side of me on screen. The way I look in my daily life and the way Bhavana looks on screen are poles apart. There is a total transformation.”
The actress reveals she was initially unsure if she could pull it off. “Honestly, I didn’t know how I would take this change or whether I would be able to adapt,” Disha admits. “But the entire team encouraged me so much. They kept telling me to trust myself, and that confidence really helped.”
‘I am poles apart from Bhavana in real life’
Disha believes portraying characters that are far removed from her real personality is what truly excites her as an actor.
“I am very different in real life,” she says. “So playing a character that is poles apart is equally challenging and exciting. It pushes me out of my comfort zone and helps me grow as an actor.”
‘My husband is my therapist’
Behind the confident actor is a strong emotional support system, starting at home.
“My husband is my therapist,” Disha says with a smile. “He encourages me constantly and has always been there for me, emotionally and mentally. He understands me without me having to explain much, and that support means everything.” She adds that having someone who believes in her during moments of doubt has been crucial.
“There are days when you question yourself, and that’s when his belief in me gives me strength.”
‘My best friend is my other pillar of strength’
Apart from her husband, Disha credits her best friend for being her constant anchor. “My best friend is my other support system,” she shares. “No matter what I’m going through, I know I can pick up the phone and talk. Having that kind of unconditional support keeps me grounded.”
With Bhavana Lakshmi Nivasa, Disha Madan seems ready to surprise audiences once again—proving that sometimes, the roles we hesitate to take become the most defining ones.
