Calle de la Rondas is straight out of a film set. Brace yourself to witness a thoughtfully constructed experience in a street called Calle de la Rondas in the old part of Quito. This is a historic walking area with pebbled streets, coffee shops, restaurants with views of mountains in the backdrop. There is a wide range of restaurants with every possible cuisine available. To add to the abundance, there is plenty of mouth-watering local street food that you can munch while walking around. There are houses painted in bright electric and neon colours. From some vantage points, you will be able to see the statue of La Virgen giving a Spanish-feel to the whole experience. The streets are curated to be walked and enjoyed even at night with a safe and bustling nightlife. There are plenty of bars and nightclubs that open around evening and stay open until 2 am. Everything leads to and from the main central square called '24 de Mayo Plaza'. Like theatre performance, there would be skits, shows, fire juggling, actors dressed in costume walking around etc. The liveliness and the carnival-like feel of Calle de la Rondas is best experienced in a measure of an entire day. Expect to reach here for breakfast and stay till dinner. A non-negotiable item for hassle-free trip is a pair of comfortable shoes to enjoy walking on pebbled streets, uneven stair cases and narrow alleys that require hopping and jumping. For a quick overview, rent a bicycle and ride around to pick and curate how you wish to spend your day here. Because of Quito's elevation and altitude, the weather mostly remains pleasant.
