Quite often Ecuador is referred to as the womb of Latin America. It has managed to preserve some of the best natural wonders in its original state. The air feels fresh and unpolluted. The cities have got the old world Spanish charm. So it’s not a surprise that Ecuador's Quito and five other destinations have been awarded the label of world heritage site. To quote UNESCO on why it has chosen Quito, it mentions, "Quito, the capital of Ecuador, was founded in the 16th century on the ruins of Inca city and stands at an altitude of 2,850 m. Despite the 1917 earthquake, the city has the best-preserved, the least altered historic center in Latin America. The monasteries of San Francisco and Santo Domingo, the Church and Jesuit College of La CompañÃa, with their rich interiors, are pure examples of the 'Baroque school of Quito', which is a fusion of Spanish, Italian, Moorish, Flemish and indigenous art."The Amazon forest, Andes mountain range, Galapagos Islands and the splashing Pacific coast make for an inescapable itinerary to this Latin American haven. The single mindedness of improving everything for tourists in Ecuador has come a long way making it a popular escape.
Oh, the good news—Ecuador is visa on arrival for Indians!
