Located in Solanas, on the south of Sardinia and about one hour drive from Cagliari, Da Barbara is one of the best restaurants in the region. It has been around for a long time, and it is very popular among locals who go there to eat fantastic seafood and fish dishes. The mixed appetizers include a delicious octopus dish; a shrimp salad; a selection of smoked tuna and swordfish; and mussels. Pasta dishes include spaghetti with crab; linguine with lobster; and traditional Sardinian fregola with clams. Lobster is cooked to perfection. Desserts include the sebadas, a typical Sardinian sweet consisting of a light pastry filled with cheese and lemon grind, then fried till crispy and served hot with honey, and sweet ricotta ravioli. There is a great selection of wines. Service is great, with the owner/manager always keeping an eye on customers. Again, this is an expensive diner, but definitely worth the price.
