I Menhirs

Located in Olia Speciosa (Castiadas) at about 10 minutes drive from Costa Rei, and about one hour drive from Cagliari, I Menhirs focuses on the most traditional Sardinian dishes, so no fish or seafood is served here. The menu has a fixed price (around €30 per person) and includes a real feast of appetizers such as a lovely salad of cold roasted piglet and teasels; the typical panadine (dough based preparation stuffed with a variety of ingredients such as potatoes, then baked); and delicious culurgiones – fresh pasta stuffed with pecorino cheese, potatoes and mint). It also serves the “maialetto” – one of the most famous Sardinian dishes which consist of a milk piglet slowly cooked on a spit until the skin becomes crispy and the meat tender and juicy. There’s a good selection of traditional sweets too. Service is spot on, and staff is incredibly kind. The restaurant is located in a lovely setting, surrounded by the countryside and there is a gorgeous garden.
