Italy is famous – among other things – for its delicious food. Some Italian dishes are known worldwide, and there is a common misconception that all there is to eat in Italy is pasta and pizza. What most people don’t know is that Italian cuisine is actually very regional (with recipes that actually even vary from village to village), and that there is a wealth of dishes where the main ingredients are meat, fish and seafood, and even vegetables. It goes without saying that food in Sardinia is delicious. Traditional dishes reflect the traditional occupations (shepherd) so there are a lot of dishes that contain the famous pecorino cheese. A lot of other dishes are pork based. However, there are a lot of seafood and fish dishes, which are prepared using only very fresh local ingredients. It’s not an elaborate cuisine, but it is incredibly tasty and healthy. There are some incredibly good restaurants scattered around the island where it is possible to eat some delicious food, duly accompanied by the ever more famous Sardinian wines. This guide provides insights on the best restaurants in Sardinia.
