People’s Democratic Party of Jammu and Kashmir is a political party of the state that was found and lead by Mufti Mohammed Sayeed. Currently, his daughter Mehbooba Mufti leads the party, which is in power in the state.

The prime ideology of the party is self-rule, which totally differs from the issues of autonomy. PDP believes in self-rule as its political philosophy, which ensures the empowerment of the people of the state. It further engages in debates related to new political territoriality of Jammu and Kashmir.

After the 2014 general election, three of the party members were elected to Lok Sabha. The party along with the BJP ran a coalition government in J&K, till PDP gave up the coalition on June 19, 2018 because of unresolved concerns about terrorism and radicalization in Kashmir.
