The enforcement agencies face a relentless challenge, yet a bolstered police presence is leading to increased confiscations and ongoing cat-and-mouse games.

Police in Dumka seized a truck containing 8,640 pouches of illegal liquor near Mayurnath on Thursday evening. The driver and cleaner fled after a brief chase. The liquor, marked for sale in Uttar Pradesh, was found hidden under a false platform, suggesting interstate smuggling.

In a dramatic raid on Tuesday morning, the Belsar police disrupted a significant illegal alcohol ring in Vaishali district, confiscating foreign liquor valued at around Rs25 lakh. Enclosed in a cleverly concealed cellar hidden beneath sacks of lime within a truck, officials found 235 cartons of illicit spirits.

Authorities in Daltonganj seized over 4,000 liters of illegal foreign liquor, valued at Rs 42 lakh, in a pre-Holi crackdown. One person was arrested, while four others remain at large. The illicit stock was discovered in a village house, which had been converted into an illegal depot.

Bokaro police conducted a major crackdown on illegal liquor trade. They seized a huge consignment of spurious foreign liquor in the Chatrochatti police station area. This was the second such seizure in 24 hours in Bermo sub-division. Police recovered 2,688 bottles of fake foreign liquor worth Rs 10 lakh.
