Illegal liquor worth Rs 50 lakh hidden under soy nuggets in truck seized

Indore: Mandsaur police seized 350 cartons of illegal foreign liquor worth about Rs 50 lakh that were being transported in a truck concealed beneath sacks of soy nuggets in Nahargarh police station area of the district. The truck used for transportation was also seized.ASP TS Baghel said that the truck was found parked under suspicious circumstances near a culvert on Rupni–Kachnara Road in Fatehgarh village area. When officers searched the vehicle, they discovered that 350 cartons of foreign liquor were hidden under sacks of soy nuggets. Police seized the entire consignment including the vehicle.Baghel said a case was registered under Section 34(2) of Excise Act. Police are now investigating the origin of the liquor consignment and its intended destination.Police said Nahargarh police station received a tip-off on Friday about a truck transporting illegal liquor. Acting on the information, a police team led by station in-charge Varun Tiwari reached the culvert near Fatehgarh village on Rupni–Kachnara Road and intercepted the vehicle.
