G. Sabari Iyngaran of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has won the 2026 Assembly election, defeating Sakthivel alias Aatral Arasu (VCK/SPA). The multi-cornered contest also featured Dr. K. Kathirkamu (AMMK/NDA) and Vimala R. (NTK), with key campaign issues including welfare schemes and agricultural development.

After recognizing their loss in the Kerala elections, Jharkhand CPI(M) leaders expressed appreciation for the LDF's decade-long commitment to the public's welfare. They emphasized their respect for the electorate's verdict and committed to reviewing the results to refine their approach.

Kerala's outgoing Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed surprise at the Left Democratic Front's election defeat, stating the verdict was unexpected. The United Democratic Front (UDF) has taken a commanding lead in Kerala's 2026 Assembly elections, surpassing the majority mark with 95 seats. The ruling LDF faces a significant collapse, with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan trailing in his constituency. The NDA is also showing strength, leading in four seats.

Exit polls have indicated a closely fought contest between the Left Democratic Front and the United Democratic Front, with only a narrow gap separating the two alliances. According to the poll of polls, the Congress-led UDF is projected to cross the majority mark with around 72 seats in the 140-member assembly, while the LDF is expected to remain close behind with approximately 63 seats.
