A day after Delhi chief selector and former India pacer Amit Bhandari was assaulted by a group of boys led by U-23 player Anuj Dedha and his brother Naresh, DDCA president Rajat Sharma has decided to impose a life ban on the player.

Amit Bhandari however spearheaded the Delhi and North Zone attack for over a decade claiming 314 first-class wickets from 95 matches.

A cheating complaint of about Rs 60 lakh was registered at Gotri police station by Mukesh Chaturvedi, owner of a firm.

Bhandari sustained head and ear injuries and was taken to Sant Paramanand Hospital at Civil Lines by his colleague Sukhvinder Singh. The goons fled before the cops could reach the spot.
