Mumbai, Jun 19 () Budget carrier SpiceJet today signed an initial pact with the US aircraft maker Boeing Co for 40 737 MAX planes. A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA), valued at USD 4.7 billion at current list prices, was signed at the Paris Air Show, which commenced today.

Jet Airways is India's second-largest airline with a fleet of nearly 120 airplanes serving more than 60 destinations across 15 countries across Asia, Europe, North America and elsewhere.

India has sought information from Boeing after a second B737 Max crashed on Sunday. While on Sunday an Ethiopian Airlines B737 crashed in Africa, just over four months back on October 29, 2018, Indonesian carrier Lion Air's B737 Max had crashed into the Java Sea killing all 189 people on board. In India, SpiceJet and Jet Airways have ordered Boeing 737 Max.
