Will Parthiv help West be the best?

Parthiv Patel has been a success this season because he hasconcentrated on the job on hand rather than the job he covets. He could easilyhave done the latter for he was eminently deserving a recall to the India sideon the basis of his performance with bat and ball.The outcome of thesharp focus has been leading Gujarat to the Ranji Trophy Plate final and WestZone, who are also led by Parthiv, having a tilt at the Duleep trophy title.West won the trophy two seasons ago while North are the defending champions.Parthiv, a former India stumper, leads a strong all-round sideboosted by the induction of Gujarat's Murali-like off-spinner Mohnish Parmar.Parmar who carved the win over Railways in the Plate final comes in place ofRamesh Powar, whose form nosedived after he was demotivated by being left out ofthe India squad after a good tour of England. A pity Powar didn't followParthiv's mantra.Parthiv has a lot on his plate in the coming months- the One-dayers, IPL and in between all that, his marriage on March 9. Askedabout the prospects of the final, Parthiv said, "We will carry the confidence ofbeating a strong England Lions team."
