As India gears up for the Asia Cup 2025 in Dubai, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is on the brink of a major milestone. The 26-year-old needs just one more wicket to become the first Indian bowler to reach 100 T20I wickets and the 25th player overall to achieve the feat. So far, Arshdeep has taken 99 wickets in 63 T20I matches at an average of 18.30. He has been economical with an economy rate of 8.29 and has two four-wicket hauls to his name. His best figures in T20Is came last year against the USA, when he claimed 4 wickets for just 9 runs in the group stage of the T20 World Cup.

Arshdeep is also the country’s highest wicket-taker in T20Is. With 99 wickets to his name, he is on the verge of becoming the first Indian to claim 100 wickets in the format, a milestone that would put him among the elite bowlers in T20I history.

The pacer has been a model of consistency, troubling batters with his line, length, and swing. Since the 2024 T20 World Cup, he has played 11 matches and picked up 20 wickets at an impressive average of 15.15, with best figures of 3 for 14 while maintaining an economy of 7.87. Arshdeep was also part of India’s Test squad during the tour of England earlier this year. Fans and former cricketers had speculated that he might finally earn his maiden Test cap and showcase his skills in red-ball cricket.
However, he missed out on selection for the first three Tests and then suffered a hand injury before the fourth match in Manchester, delaying his Test debut. India’s Asia Cup campaign begins on September 10 against the UAE, with the highly anticipated India-Pakistan clash set for September 14. Their final group match against the UAE is scheduled for September 19. The Super Four stage starts on September 20, featuring the top two teams from each group.
