NBA trade rumor: Michael Porter Jr. draws growing interest as Milwaukee Bucks, Golden State Warriors, and Chicago Bulls circle before deadline

Michael Porter Jr., a forward with the Brooklyn Nets, might have a change of scenery before the trade deadline on February 5. The Milwaukee Bucks, Detroit Pistons, Golden State Warriors, and Chicago Bulls are all possible trade destinations for Porter, according to NBA source Jake Fischer.

As the trade deadline draws near, the Milwaukee Bucks are anticipated to be active buyers in an effort to complement Giannis Antetokounmpo with another star. There has been a lot of talk lately regarding the Golden State Warriors' possible interest in trading for forward Michael Porter Jr. of the Brooklyn Nets.

Four viable possibilities that may have a big impact on the Bucks have surfaced thus far. Michael Porter Jr., Jerami Grant, Zach LaVine, and Malik Monk are among Milwaukee's top trade targets this season, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic. According to Amick:

"It remains to be seen whether he can pull off anything significant, as Milwaukee is (by its own doing) limited in assets and options. The list of names under consideration is likely much longer than what is publicly known, but a few have emerged…”

Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints gave an update on the Warriors' potential pursuit of the seasoned shooter prior to the trade deadline on February 5. On Tuesday's "Clutch Scoops" live feed, Siegel reported:

“I haven’t been told that there’s anything brewing in terms of Michael Porter Jr. going to the Warriors.”




Siegel said of Warriors trade buzz around MPJ:

“It would take a lot of contracts to get him, and they’ll have to sacrifice draft capital because of how well he’s playing.”

LaVine of the Kings is also a confirmed target, according to ESPN,

“Sacramento’s Malik Monk and Portland’s Jerami Grant. League sources say Brooklyn’s Michael Porter Jr. is a name worth watching as well..”

Jake Fischer of The Stein Line revealed on Thursday that the Warriors had "had internal discussions about whether to pursue Porter."

But regrettably, Fischer continued for Warriors supporters, Brooklyn “has not shown much interest in acquiring Jonathan Kuminga dating back to last summer."

According to Siegel, Porter earns $38.3 million this season and an additional $40.8 million in 2026-2027, thus the Warriors would have to give up a number of players in a possible trade. Siegel stated that the Warriors had made enquiries about Nets center Nic Claxton as they search the league for athletic big men, although ruling out any potential trade interest in MPJ.

The Bucks are in dire need of an acquisition to help them get back into contention because they are having a difficult season. With a 14-20 record, they are now ranked 11th in the East. During his debut season in Brooklyn, the former first-round choice has been a productive three-level scorer, averaging 25.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game on 49.6/41.0/81.2 shooting splits.
