Antonio Felix Da Costa was hit by Edoardo Mortara on the opening lap itself but still managed to bring home a trophy at the Monaco E-Prix on Sunday. The Number 13 Jaguar TCS Racing driver was sent into the chicane by Dan Ticktum a day earlier, after which the Cupra Kiro driver was stripped of his podium finish as a penalty. Da Costa admitted he had mixed feelings after the “crazy race” on Sunday, having been hit yet again but still securing a podium finish.

Antonio Felix Da Costa opens up on his podium finish at Monaco E-Prix

Antonio Felix Da Costa failed to finish the Round 9 race in Monaco on Saturday but bounced back to claim a podium in Round 10 the following day. Summing up the Monaco E-Prix weekend, the Portuguese driver shared a few celebratory pictures from the podium on Instagram and wrote: “What a rollercoaster of emotions… We still managed a podium finish. What a crazy race. Thank you all for the support.”Andretti driver Felipe Drugovich, who finished second ahead of him, congratulated him by commenting “Bravo”.
Expressing his frustration at being hit during the race, Da Costa said after his podium finish, “I don’t know whether to be happy or angry with the amount of times I’ve been hit from behind this season and races taken from us, and I could not believe it on lap one.
People were still taking it easy, I thought. I got hit from behind, spun out and dropped all the way to the back, but with a good strategy from the team and taking a lot of risks, as you can see from my car, I was able to make it back to the front.“I need to review it, but I think the full course yellow came out at a good time for me, that first one, and it was then about managing energy to the end. Congrats to these guys, amazing race. I am happy to be on the podium today with these guys after that one,” he added.

Antonio Felix Da Costa on Dan Ticktum’s antics on Day 1 of the Monaco E-Prix

Speaking about losing a tyre after being sent into the chicane by Dan Ticktum, Antonio Felix Da Costa told Motorsport Week: “That was completely wrong from him and the stewards saw it and penalised him. But I’m just angry that we let it escalate to that point. He should have got a warning three laps earlier because he was moving under braking. He was driving completely illegally.”“If we follow our guidelines and he was moving under braking, and you don’t tell a guy that’s driving dangerously, don’t give him a warning or point it out, then he’s going to keep doing it and eventually what happened happens,” he added.Ticktum had originally finished third, but due to the penalty for the incident, his teammate Pepe Marti was promoted to the podium for his maiden Formula E top-three finish. Also read: Lando Norris cheers on Jake Dennis at Monaco E-Prix, expresses desire to drive a Formula E car
