Terrorists attack Army unit in Nagrota near Jammu

Army on Wednesday paid rich tributes to three soldiers who were killed and body of one of whom was mutilated in "Pakistan's dastardly action" along the Line of Control in Machhil sector of Kashmir.

The Army today carried out a massive counter assault using heavy mortar fire on Pakistani posts along the Line of Control, making good its promise of "heavy retribution" for the beheading of an Indian soldier yesterday.

Confirming the collusion between Kashmiri separatists and Pakistan-sponsored "disruptive" elements, the government informed the Lok Sabha on Tuesday that some key separatist leaders were reported to be in touch with terrorist leaders based across the border and in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (POK) and were allegedly receiving directions and funding from the Pakistani establishment to foment trouble in the valley.

Three Indian soldiers were killed and body of one of them was mutilated by Pakistan troops on the Line of Control in Machhal sector of Kashmir, Army said. This is the second such incident of mutilation of the body of an Indian soldier on the LoC since October 29.

Nearly 174 schools in Jammu and 45 in Samba will remain shut "until further orders", official sources said on Tuesday. The order applies to government as well as private schools in border areas and along the LoC in Khour, Jourian, Marh, R S Pura, Arnia , Satwati (only Mandal/Makhwal/Lalyal), Akhnoor, Bishnah and Miran Sahib, etc.)

The escalated tension in the wake of Indian Army's surgical strikes on terror pads in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and targeting of border areas, resulted in the death of four civilians in Samba district and two in Rajouri sector. The Border Security Force said it destroyed 14 posts manned by Pakistani Rangers along the international border in Ramgarh and Arnia sectors of Jammu.

Pakistan has summoned India's deputy high commissioner for the fourth time in just over a week and lodged a strong protest over alleged "unprovoked ceasefire violations" by Indian forces along the LoC that resulted in the death of its six civilians.
