Goof-up 1: Masters of combination
A dark green shirt matched with a similar coloured tie detracts from your 'dashing gentleman' persona. This is the most common fashion blunder you come across in corporate offices. Some fashion victims even go to the extent of matching the colour of their socks with that of their shirt. In addition, printed shirts, casual T-shirts or sweatshirts are unfit for formal office settings. The worst of all are tees with satirical quotations that seem to be a deliberate attempt to irk your bosses and make a bad style statement.

BLUNDER MANAGEMENT: Team a shirt with a contrasting tie, but don't go overboard with the choice of shades, as it may appear gaudy. "A similar colour shirt and tie can look handsome only if the shades are on the lighter side. With a navy blue shirt, a sky-blue tie with diagonal stripes looks good," asserts designer Rahul Khanna.

Another word of caution - do not wear the same coloured shirt and trousers, as it looks mundane. "Checked trousers teamed with a checked shirt or a striped shirt with striped trousers isn’t a good choice. A light grey shirt with a dark grey trouser merging into a jet black tone makes a nice combo. Do not be afraid of wearing pink, but yellow is a strict no," adds Rahul. Never keep a separate colour palette for your socks; only black, white, navy blue and brown are the ones that go with most attires.
