Bollywood actress Preity Zinta, who is also co-owner of Kings XI Punjab cricket team, filed a police complaint against her former boyfriend and businessman Ness Wadia, alleging that he molested, abused and threatened her inside Wankhede stadium in south Mumbai, on May 30 during a match between KingsXI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings. She gave a written complaint following which an FIR was registered against Wadia under IPC sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) and 509 (Word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria said, "Offence has been registered. We are trying to collect evidence like the statements of those involved and CCTV footage". Sources tell TIMES NOW that actor Preity Zinta has agreed to record her statement soon. Preity has been made aware of the polices demand to recode her statement again to collect further evidence and identifying eye witnesses.Though the Mumbai Police has recorded statements of two persons in connection with the incident, but was unable to reach the Bollywood actress as she is out of the country. However, police did not reveal the identity of the two persons and remained tight-lipped on what emerged in their statements. "After collecting some substantial evidence, we will summon Wadia," he said. The investigators also asked the actress to provide emails exchanged between her and her former boyfriend, which the police said, would throw some light to understand the long simmering differences between the complainant and Wadia.
Mumbai police recorded statements of IPL CEO Sundar Raman and Wankhede Stadium staff and sources at Marine Drive police station said Raman, several players of IPL team Kings XI Punjab, their support staff and officials of Wankhede Stadium were claimed to have been present when the alleged incident took place and their statements will be recorded. The Maharashtra State Women's Rights Commission had given the city police a 24-hour ultimatum to arrest Wadia which was not met. Sources close to Preity Zinta claimed that Preity's team was working closely with the representatives of the Wadia group for a mutual settlement, though it is still not clear what the nature of the settlements really are.Sources have told TIMES NOW that two more phone calls have been reported to the police by the Wadia group. These calls were made to the Wadia's company secretary on his landline. During the first call: the caller allegedly asked for the direct number of Nusli Wadia to which the CS responded that he did not have it and that Mr. Wadia was not in Mumbai. In the second call: the caller abused and told the receiver that he didn't know who he was. In a startling relevation, the police has said that the threat calls have been traced to Iran.
