Sony Pictures Animation’s latest theatrical bet has delivered a strong early statement. GOAT, produced by Sony Pictures Animation and backed by NBA star Stephen Curry and entrepreneur
Ayesha Curry, has crossed the $100 million mark worldwide within weeks of release. The animated sports comedy opened on February 13 and quickly found its footing despite crowded multiplexes and stiff competition.
The film entered theaters alongside Wuthering Heights and Crime 101, while holdovers such as Zootopia 2 and Avatar: Fire and Ash continued to command screens. Yet families showed up from the sports comedy. In its second weekend, the film climbed to No. 1 domestically with $17 million and posted a modest 38 percent drop week over week, a sign of healthy audience retention in a post-holiday frame.
GOAT global box office so far
According to Box Office Mojo, GOAT has earned $104.3 million worldwide. North America accounts for $60.3 million, or 57.8 percent of the total. International markets have contributed $44 million, pushing the film past the three figure milestone and making it the first animated release in the current cycle to do so.

The $35.1 million domestic opening marked the biggest debut for an original animated film since Elemental.
That launch set the tone. Unlike franchise sequels, original animated titles often struggle without built in brand awareness. Crossing $100 million signals that the film has connected beyond its core basketball hook.
Industry analysts note that family films rely on steady exposure. In recent years, gaps in the release calendar hurt momentum for PG titles. Now, with consistent offerings in theaters, young audiences are discovering trailers on the big screen again.

Is Stephen and Ayesha Curry's GOAT a hit?
The production budget sits between $80 million and $90 million. To approach break-even territory, the global total likely needs to reach at least $200 million. That leaves significant ground to cover.
The film’s overseas rollout is still unfolding. Key territories such as Japan and China can boost animated features considerably, especially given the modest reception. Sustained domestic play will also be crucial in the coming weeks.
Directed by Tyree Dillihay, the story follows Will Harris, an undersized goat who dreams of dominating a sport called roarball. The voice cast includes
Caleb McLaughlin, Gabrielle Union, Aaron Pierre, Nicola Coughlan, David Harbour, Nick Kroll, and Jennifer Hudson, alongside Steph and Ayesha Curry.
