Hindu mandir inauguration UAE Live updates: PM Modi concluded his Qatar visit which he undertook after inaugurating BAPS mandir in UAE and landed in New Dehli late Thursday. PM Modi's visit came on heels of a major diplomatic triumph for India, in which eight veterans of the Indian Navy who were sentenced to death in Qatar on espionage charges, were released by Doha on Monday.The BAPS Hindu Mandir, built on the gifted land in Abu Mureihah, Al Rahba area,close to the Abu Dhabi-Sweihan-Al road, near the Abu Dhabi-Dubai highway. The temple features seven towers representing the seven emirates of the UAE. The Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) temple will open for the public from March 1. The complex includes a visitors’ centre, prayer halls, exhibitions, learning areas, sports area for children and youth, thematic gardens, water features, a food court, book and gift shop and other facilities. As a place of harmony, it will welcome people of all faiths to experience and understand Hindu culture and spirituality, said BAPS. Stay with TOI for more updates:

PM Modi's second visit to Qatar came days after Qatar released the Indians. The Navy veterans were on October 26 given death sentences by Qatar's Court of First Instance. The Court of Appeal in the Gulf nation on December 28 commuted the capital punishment and sentenced them to jail terms for varying durations.

Accompanied by the external affairs minister, S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, PM Modi arrived in Qatar's capital, Doha, on Wednesday night. This followed the inauguration of the first Hindu Temple in Abu Dhabi and a series of bilateral meetings with prominent leaders.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the India-UAE bilateral relationship and witnessed the exchange of eight agreements.The agreements signed between India and the UAE are, namely; Bilateral Investment Treaty, Inter-Governmental Framework Agreement on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC), MoU for cooperation on Digital Infrastructure Projects, MoU in the field of Electricity Interconnection and Trade, MoU for cooperation with the National Maritime Heritage Complex, Lothal at Gujarat.Other agreements were; Cooperation Protocol between the National Library and Archives of the UAE and the National Archives of India, agreement on interlinking the instant payment platforms - UPI (India) and AANI (UAE) and an agreement on interlinking domestic debit and credit cards - RuPay (India) with JAYWAN (UAE).

While addressing a special briefing on PM Modi's visit, Vinay Mohan Kwatra said that PM Modi's visit would provide an opportunity for leaders to discuss ways to further deepen and strengthen the multifaceted partnership. "PM Modi's visit to Qatar will provide an opportunity for the top leadership of the two countries to discuss ways to further deepen and strengthen our multifaceted partnership as well as exchange views on different regional and international issues of mutual importance," Kwatra noted. The foreign secretary also highlighted that this will be the second visit of PM Modi to Qatar, with the last one taking place in June 2016. Emphasising the growing ties between India and Qatar, the foreign secretary mentioned high-level visits to Qatar.

It really signifies the relationship between the UAE and India. And to create this incredible oasis of spirituality in the desert is really, truly wonderful to see. It has been a great privilege for me to participate."

Seven out of the eight veterans have returned to India. The eighth personnel has also been released and his return is being worked out, the MEA said. The capital punishment was commuted to an extended prison term earlier following diplomatic intervention by New Delhi.

In the personalised message to PM Modi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum wrote, "Your Excellency Narendra Modi, These past 50 years have been a journey of valuable experiences and reflections."
