PM Modi in Hamburg for G20 summit

US President Donald Trump won key concessions on climate and trade today from world leaders at the most fractious G20 summit to date, in exchange for preserving the unity of the club of major industrialised and emerging economies. In a final statement agreed by all 20 economies, 19 members including Russia, China and the European Union acknowledged Trump's decision to go his own way on taking the US out of the 2015 Paris climate accord.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today invited Norwegian pension funds to invest in the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund as he met Norway's Prime Minister Erna Solberg, who gifted him a symbolic football.

EU officials at the summit in Hamburg said that the draft trade language keeps the traditional G-20 condemnation of protectionism, or keeping out foreign competitors with unfair import taxes or regulations. But countries also agreed to fight "all unfair trade practices'' and recognize "legitimate trade defense instruments."

G20 also encourages collaboration with industry to provide lawful access to available information where necessary to counter terror threats.
