Former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal appealed to the people of Haryana on Saturday to cast their votes for a "better future" of the state. He encouraged all the residents of Haryana to exercise their right to vote, emphasizing that each vote will contribute to the bright future of their families and the creation of a better Haryana.

Similarly, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi urged the voters of Haryana to consider crucial issues such as electricity, healthcare, and better schools when casting their votes. She emphasized the importance of this democratic festival and called upon the voters to make their choices based on the promise of 24x7 electricity, world-class government schools, good treatment, and overall improvement of Haryana.

Sushil Gupta, the AAP state President, also made a humble appeal to the people of Haryana to participate in this democratic festival by casting their valuable votes. He stressed that each vote will play a role in bringing about change in Haryana.

Over two crore eligible voters in Haryana will decide the fate of the state in today's Assembly elections. The BJP is aiming for a third consecutive term in power, while the Congress party is hoping to regain control after a decade. The election is also significant due to the impact of farmer protests and wrestler protests on the political landscape.

The main contesting parties in Haryana are the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), and the pre-poll alliances between the Indian National Lok Dal-Bahujan Samaj Party (INLD-BSP) and the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP)-Azad Samaj Party (ASP). The voting will take place from 7 am to 6 pm across 20,632 polling booths, with a total of 1,031 candidates vying for the 90 assembly seats. The results will be announced on October 8, along with those of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the previous Assembly elections in 2019, the BJP won 40 seats and formed a coalition government with the JJP, which secured 10 seats. The Congress won 31 seats. However, the JJP later broke away from the coalition.

Leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi addressed the voters of Haryana on Saturday, emphasizing crucial state issues such as farmers' welfare, job creation, and women's rights. He encouraged the state's residents to actively participate in the election and support the Congress party.

"Today there is a very important election in the state - an appeal to all the residents of the state, to come out of their homes in large numbers and vote for Congress," Rahul Gandhi wrote in a post on X.

Gandhi underscored the party's dedication to the prosperity of farmers, employment opportunities for the youth, women's safety and respect, inclusive participation, social security, and the well-being of every family. He stressed that each vote for Congress contributes to safeguarding the Constitution and countering the alleged injustices of the BJP.

"We have to form a government of 36 communities in Haryana, a government with everyone's participation, a government of justice - a Congress government," he added.

Mallikarjun Kharge, the Congress party President, also called upon the voters to support the Congress, reflecting on the BJP's ten-year rule, which he claimed has led Haryana towards "unemployment, inflation, corruption, paper leaks, poor condition of villages and cities, fraud in identity cards, women's insecurity, social discrimination and economic inequality".

"I appeal to all the people of Haryana including the 36 communities to definitely cast their vote. Your one vote will take Haryana on the path of prosperity and social justice," Kharge wrote in a post on X.

Haryana deputy chief minister Dushyant Chautala, expressed strong optimism about his alliance with the Aazad Samaj Party (Kanshi Ram) on Saturday. He confidently stated that their coalition would secure a substantial majority in the upcoming elections.

Chautala, who is the great-grandson of former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal, visited a polling booth in Sirsa accompanied by his wife and mother to exercise his right to vote.

In his interaction with the media, Chautala said, "This time we are in alliance with the Azad Samaj Party and we will get good numbers."

"This is a big festival of democracy and I make this appeal to the people of Haryana that their vote will decide the future of Haryana, so you all come out of your houses and cast maximum votes till 6 PM. We are confident that the way we have worked for Haryana, our alliance will get a huge majority and our partners will be given a chance to work for the development of Haryana. All 90 constituencies are the same and the party workers have put in a lot of effort. I am sure that we will get more votes than in the last election," he said.

Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar says, "... When their offers and freebies turned into votes, they backed off and people can see that. In Himachal Pradesh, they have started charging electricity fares which they had earlier exempted... They kept talking about OPS and NPS but never implemented OPS anywhere. We have now moved on from NPS and introduced the UPS... We make promises and implement policies after taking due account of our budget... They must mislead voters... Congress has only worked to create a divide between castes."

Union minister Manohar Lal Khattar says, "I think someone advised them (Congress) 6-8 months ago to keep repeating their lies so that eventually people start believing in them. But as the elections approached, their lies were exposed... They have not even announced their CM candidate so far... People had gone through so many atrocities during the Congress government. The government was so corrupt that now all those agents and middlemen have been kept out of their jobs during the BJP rule... Unemployment in Haryana is only for the corrupt agents and middlemen of the Congress government. The common man has ample employment opportunities. With the growth of industry in the state, there is ample employment for everyone, especially in NCR and districts along the GT Road..."

Union home minister Amit Shah called upon the citizens of Haryana to exercise their right to vote in the Assembly elections on Saturday. In his message posted on X, he emphasized the importance of their vote in maintaining a corruption-free state.

Shah said, "The people of Veer Bhoomi Haryana are going to vote in the state today. Your one vote will work to keep Haryana free from the rule of expenditure slips, corruption and dealers. I urge all my sisters and brothers to vote to maintain the pace of development and to elect a government that takes the government out of one district and reaches every village of Haryana."

The home minister further stressed that only a government with a proven track record of development and good governance can bring welfare to the state, rather than one that makes false promises.

Union Minister and BJP leader Krishan Pal Gurjar expressed his confidence in the party's ability to secure a third consecutive victory in the Haryana assembly elections on Saturday. He attributed this confidence to the BJP's track record of providing 'transparent and honest governance' to the people of Haryana over the past decade.

In an interview with ANI, Gurjar stated, "BJP government is going to be formed in Haryana for the third time. BJP has given transparent and honest governance. People of Haryana have seen a government that gives development and good governance for the first time... "

The Union Minister also emphasized the trust that the people of Haryana have placed in both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP. He drew a contrast between the current government and previous administrations, noting that in the past, ministers in Haryana were frequently imprisoned.

Krishan Pal Gurjar, who serves as the Minister of State for Cooperation and represents the Faridabad constituency in the Lok Sabha, cast his vote at a polling station in Faridabad.

Haryana CM and BJP's candidate from Ladwa assembly seat Nayab Singh Saini criticized the Congress party, claiming that their promises lacked substance. He urged the people of Haryana to vote in full force, assuring them that under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, the state would continue to progress as it has over the past decade.

"I want to appeal to the people of Haryana to cast 100% votes...The mood of the people of Haryana is clear. BJP is going to form its government for the third time with a huge margin on 8th October," he said.
After casting his ballot at an Ambala polling station, the chief minister displayed his inked finger to the public.

The chief minister further accused the Congress of being against reservations and the poor, stating that their intentions were evident in their desire to eliminate the reservation system.

"I want to appeal to the people of Haryana to cast 100% votes. Under the leadership of PM Modi, we will work to develop Haryana, just the way we have done in the last 10 years. I want to say to the people of the state that you cast your votes and PM Modi and we will guarantee the development of the state...The promises of Congress are not concrete. They have lost the support of the people...Congress' intention is clear that they want to finish reservations. They are anti-reservation and anti-poor," he said.

BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi expressed his confidence in the party's prospects while speaking to ANI at a polling booth after exercising his franchise on Saturday. He asserted that the BJP's extensive development work in the state would lead the people to vote in their favor.

"The BJP will form the government with a full majority for the third time. There is a good atmosphere in favour of the BJP...The Congress candidate fielded here is an outsider...Bhavya Bishnoi (his son and BJP candidate from Adampur seat) has done good work here; people see a glimpse of (former Haryana chief minister) Bhajan Lal in him," he said.

Bhavya Bishnoi, Kuldeep Bishnoi's son and the BJP candidate from the Adampur Assembly constituency, is confident about his prospects in the election.

"I would like to express my gratitude to the people of Adampur that they gave me the biggest fortune of my life by blessing me 1.5 years ago and in these years, I have tried to serve this area with full dedication. Development work worth Rs 800 crore is going on. I would like to complete the incomplete work related to the canals...I would also like to implement 2 to 3 big projects related to the sports department and the health department...The people of Adampur will win this election. There is no competition with anyone.

"I am not saying this with overconfidence; I am saying this with confidence because we have worked with full dedication in the last 1.5 years," he added.

After casting their ballots, Kuldeep Bishnoi, his son, and his wife displayed the victory sign, signaling their belief in a favorable outcome for the BJP in the elections.

Congress candidate from Julana Assembly Constituency expressed her enthusiasm after casting her vote in the Haryana elections. She emphasized the significance of the day for the people of the state.

Phogat visited a polling station in Charkhi Dadri on Saturday to exercise her democratic right. In a statement to ANI, she said, "It is a huge festival for Haryana and a very big day for the people of the state. I am making an appeal to the people of the state to come out and cast their votes. 10 years ago, when Bhupinder Hooda was the CM, the level of sports in the state was really good. It is not in my hands (to become a minister), it is in the hands of the high command..."

She urged the voters to support the party that champions women's rights, without explicitly naming any specific party. Phogat also expressed her optimism about the election outcome and reminded the public about the BJP's actions towards farmers and other segments of society.

Acharya Devvrat, the Governor of Gujarat, exercised his right to vote at a polling station in Kurukshetra during the Haryana Elections 2024 on Saturday. After casting his vote, Governor Acharya Devvrat said, "My family exercised its right to vote today. I want to urge all people of Haryana to exercise their right to vote so that we can play an important role in making a good society." The voting process commenced for the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana on Saturday, following a period of intense campaigning by prominent political parties, such as the incumbent Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Former Haryana chief minister and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure more than 50 seats in the Haryana assembly elections. After casting his vote at a polling booth, he told reporters, "We will get more than 50 seats this time."

Khattar further stated that the election results would be announced by the afternoon of October 8. He added, "I am feeling good; we will form the government for the third time." When questioned about a Congress leader's alleged involvement in a drug bust case, Khattar remarked that it is in the nature of the Congress to support such individuals.

The voting for the 90 assembly seats in Haryana commenced today, following intense campaigning by major political parties, including the ruling Congress and the BJP. The polling will continue from 7 am to 6 pm, with a total of 1,031 candidates vying for seats across all 90 constituencies. Olympic medalist and Indian shooter Manu Bhaker arrived at a polling station in Jhajjar to cast her vote in the Haryana Election.

Voting for all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana began on Saturday morning under stringent security measures, as confirmed by officials. Over two crore eligible voters will decide the electoral fate of key figures such as Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Congress leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Vinesh Phogat, JJP's Dushyant Chautala, and 1,027 other candidates. A total of 1,031 candidates are competing for seats, which includes 101 women and 464 Independents.

Former Haryana minister and BJP leader Anil Vij, JJP's Avtar Singh, INLD's Onkar Singh, Congress's Parvinder Pal Pari and AAP's Raj Kaur Gill are contesting from this seat.

Meanwhile, mock polls were also conducted at Mohan Nagar of Thanesar assembly seat. Congress's Ashok Kumar Arora, AAP's Krishan Bajaj, BJP's Subhash Sudha and JJP's Surya Partap Singh Rathore are contesting from the Thanesar assembly seat

Several candidates in the fray met party and booth workers on Friday. The campaign for the assembly polls came to an end on Thursday evening with the BJP hoping to buck the anti-incumbency and Congress, eyeing a comeback after a decade-long hiatus, going all out to wrest power. The polling for all the 90 assembly constituencies in Haryana will take place on October 5 from 7 am to 6 pm, poll officials said. Adequate security arrangements have been made for fair and free elections in the state, they further said.

Haryana Chief Election Officer, Pankaj Agarwal said that it is essential for every voter to exercise their right to franchise in a democracy, as the state is going to polls on October 5.

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal on Thursday said that over 2.03 crore voters in the state will be able to exercise their franchise in the 15th Haryana Legislative Assembly General Elections. Agarwal further informed that out of 2,03,54,350 voters, over 1.07 crore voters are men, while more than 95 lakh voters are women, and 467 are third gender. There are a total 5,24,514 young voters, aged between 18 to 19, while there are a total of 1,49,142 voters with disabilities, out of which 93,545 are male, 55,591 are female, and 6 are third gender.

This election, there is a drop in the number of women candidates for the upcoming election. Only 101 women are contesting for the Haryana election including Ambala's Shakti Rani Sharma and Shalley Chaudhary.

Haryana has implemented a 50% reservation for women in panchayati raj institutions. The Congress has nominated the most women candidates, with 12, followed by AAP with 11, BJP with 10, and the INLD-BSP alliance with 9. Notably, both Congress and BJP have excluded several prominent women leaders from their lists. The BJP has left out minister Seema Trikha, former minister Kavita Jain, and others, while Congress has not included rising leader Chitra Sarwara, Mahila Congress president Sudha Bhardwaj, former CPS Sharda Rathore, and former mayor Upinderjit Kaur Walia. Additionally, former minister Savitri Jindal was also dropped by the BJP.

Prominent among those in the fray include chief minister Saini (Ladwa), Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda (Garhi Sampla-Kiloi), INLD's Abhay Singh Chautala (Ellenabad), JJP's Dushyant Chautala (Uchana Kalan), BJP's Anil Vij (Ambala Cantt) and O P Dhankar (Badli), AAP's Anurag Dhanda (Kalayat) and Congress's Vinesh Phogat (Julana). Among the independent candidates include Savitri Jindal (Hisar), Ranjit Chautala (Rania) and Chitra Sarwara (Ambala Cantt).

This year, only 1031 candidates are going to contest assembly elections which is less than 2014, when 1351 candidates had contested while 1169 candidates contested in the 2019 Assembly elections. The fate of these candidates will be deided by over 2.03 crore voters in the state. Out of 2,03,54,350 voters, over 1.07 crore voters are men, while more than 95 lakh voters are women, and 467 are third gender.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Indian National Congress (INC), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and the Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) with the Azad Samaj Party are the key parties in the state. The alliance will contest on all 90 Assembly constituencies in Haryana with JJP competing on 70 seats while ASP on 20. This year, two other parties also made an alliance. The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), which is led by former Haryana chief minister Om Prakash Chautala, again joined hands with its former ally BSP for the state assembly polls in July.

The BJP is vying for a third consecutive term, highlighting the successes of its "double-engine" government, with PM Modi playing a pivotal role in the campaign.

On the other hand, the Congress, led by figures like Rahul Gandhi and Bhupinder Singh Hooda, is seeking a revival after a decade out of power.

The AAP, contesting independently after failing to form an alliance with Congress, is intensifying its campaign under Arvind Kejriwal, who asserted that any future government in Haryana would require AAP's support.

Haryana will witness a single-phase election for its 90-member Assembly on October 5 from 7am to 6pm, with 20,629 established polling booths. Haryana polls were earlier scheduled for October 1 but later postponed by the Election Commission because a large number of people from the Bishnoi community in Haryana will be in Rajasthan to participate in the centuries-old Asoj Amavasya festival celebration. The Haryana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had earlier written to the Election Commission requesting to postpone the polling for assembly elections.

The campaign wrapped up on the evening of October 3, with both the BJP and Congress optimistic about their chances in the upcoming election. The BJP aims to secure a third consecutive term, while Congress is seeking to stage a comeback. The AAP has asserted that no party will achieve a majority without their backing.
