Erode (West) Assembly constituency is located in Erode district of Tamil Nadu and forms part of the Erode Lok Sabha constituency. In 2026 assembly elections, Ananth Moghan KK of TVK emerged as the winner with 96,836. S Muthusamy of
DMK stood second in the race, securing 74,586 votes.
The seat represents an important urban and commercial segment of the district and has typically witnessed electoral contests between the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (
AIADMK) and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), with the
Indian National Congress (INC) occasionally emerging as a challenger through alliance politics.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, the constituency had 2,56,208 electors, with 1,89,367 valid votes polled.
AIADMK candidate Ramalingam K V secured victory with 82,297 votes, defeating DMK candidate Muthusamy S, who polled 77,391 votes. The margin of victory stood at 4,906 votes, indicating a relatively close contest between the two major Dravidian parties.
Earlier, in the 2011 Assembly elections, Erode (West) had 1,93,170 electors, with 1,53,133 valid votes recorded. AIADMK’s Ramalingam K V won the seat with 90,789 votes, defeating INC candidate Yuvaraja M, who secured 52,921 votes.
The winning margin of 37,868 votes reflected a strong mandate for the AIADMK during that election cycle.
The results across these elections indicate a period of AIADMK dominance in the constituency, though the narrower margin in 2016 suggests that Erode (West) remains politically competitive within the broader AIADMK–DMK rivalry in the region.
