Visas suspended, foreign airlines to cancel, cut flights to India
Foreign airlines are likely to significantly reduce flights to India, through a mix of cancellations and frequency reductions on different routes, with India suspending most existing visas till April 15, 2020. All educational institutions closed in J&K till March 31
The Jammu and Kashmir administration on Wednesday ordered the closure of all educational institutions across the Union Territory till March 31 as a precautionary measure to combat the outbreak of coronavirus. WHO declares that virus crisis is now a pandemic
"We have called every day for countries to take urgent and aggressive action. We have rung the alarm bell loud and clear. All countries can still change the course of this pandemic. If countries detect, test, treat, isolate, trace and mobilize their people in the response. We are deeply concerned by the alarming levels of spread and severity and by the alarming levels of inaction," said Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the WHO chief. Read full story

India quarantines itself from world for a month to fight coronavirus
India on Wednesday evening decided to virtually quarantine itself from the rest of the world, suspending all visas, except those issued for diplomatic, official, UN-international organisations, employment and projects till April 15. The decision aims to protect Indian citizens by avoiding import of infected cases from outside the country, the primary source of infection so far. Read full story
