Since September 24, the country’s Covid tally has not crossed 30,000 mark and cases remained below that level on Wednesday. With Jharkhand’s number still awaited, Wednesday’s total tally is 23,082 cases and 310 deaths. This is higher than Monday and Tuesday but much lower than last Wednesday when 32,208 cases were reported.

US health regulators' decision on whether to approve Pfizer and BioNTech's Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 could spill over into November if needed, the nation's top US infectious disease official said on Wednesday.
The daily rise in infections exceeded 500 after falling below 400 during the last two days. On Tuesday, the city had reported 394 new coronavirus infections and six fatalities. The caseload in the country's financial capital rose to 7,42,538, and death toll reached 16,103, as per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) data update on Wednesday.
The Pan American health organization (PAHO) said on Wednesday it is in advanced talks with vaccine makers to buy additional Covid vaccines for its member states, to complement bilateral deals, donations, and doses they are receiving via the Covax mechanism.
