Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Live Updates: Firing at Bihar poll campaign, Jan Suraaj worker Dularchand Yadav shot dead in Mokama

Bihar Assembly Election 2025 Live Updates: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi began his Bihar Assembly election campaign on Wednesday by addressing his first rallies in the state. He will hold two joint public meetings with RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav — the Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate — in Sakra (Muzaffarpur) and Darbhanga.

Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan, which includes the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, on Tuesday unveiled its election manifesto titled ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Pran’ for the Bihar Assembly polls. The announcement was made in the presence of RJD leader and alliance’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief and Deputy CM candidate Mukesh Sahani, Congress leader Pawan Khera, and CPI(ML) leader Dipankar Bhattacharya.

At the event, Congress leader Pawan Khera said the Opposition alliance was the first to declare its Chief Ministerial candidate and the first to release its manifesto. Taking a swipe at the NDA, he described their election promises as “jumla.”

Nitish is credited for restoration of basics of governance in his 20-long years in office, save for nine months of Jitan Ram Manjhi between 2014 and 2015. A quality road network, reliable power supply with electricity reaching almost every village by 2016, state's turn to the rule of law, and partial gains in school education and healthcare, at least at primary level, are considered undeniable successes of his era.

VIP chief and Mahagathbandhan's Deputy CM face, Mukesh Sahani said, "...I have been declared the deputy CM face, why would I go with the BJP? I will work under the leadership of Tejashwi Yadav, who is my younger brother...If I join hands with them, will they consider me a leader? I will have to obey the decision given from Delhi...The BJP always breaks the party with which they form an alliance; they destroyed Shiv Sena (UBT), you can see the condition of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also..."
