For over two years, 45-year-old Savitri Sisodia labored day after day under the scorching sun at the diamond mines of Panna.

In May, she took a fresh lease for a mine patch in Sakaria village’s Chopra area, one more shot at changing her destiny.

On June 24, while clearing soil in the leased patch, Savitri spotted a shiny pebble. Reflecting on the discovery, she said that she had worked tirelessly for two years and finally her efforts had paid off. She added that it felt like a blessing and that her prayers had finally been heard.

The diamond, weighing 2.69 carats, was her first ever. Savitri, her voice filled with relief, said that it was a priceless gift from nature.

Savitri promptly submitted the diamond to the local mining office, where officials confirmed its weight and purity. District diamond officer Anupam Singh stated that it would now be auctioned as per the rules.

The diamond will be auctioned by the government, and after deductions for royalties and taxes, Savitri will receive the proceeds.

Savitri hoped this rare find would mark the beginning of a better life.
