For years, Premanand Maharaj’s padyatra has been one of the most familiar sights in Vrindavan. Devotees from across India and even abroad gathered daily along the route from Kelly Kunj Ashram, waiting for a glimpse of Maharajji and hoping to receive blessings during the spiritual walk. But that routine has now been interrupted.
Premanand Maharaj’s padyatra has reportedly been postponed indefinitely, with devotees being informed through an announcement from the ashram. The update has left many followers concerned, especially after reports linked the decision to Maharajji’s health.
Devotees informed after Maharajji did not begin the usual padyatra
According to Bhaskar English, thousands of devotees had gathered on Sunday night, expecting the usual darshan and early morning padyatra. However, Premanand Maharaj reportedly did not begin the journey around 3 am as followers were expecting.
Instead, his disciples addressed devotees through a loudspeaker and informed them about the cancellation.
As quoted in the media report, devotees were told, “We request that, due to Maharajji's ill health, the pilgrimage is being cancelled from today. Please do not gather by standing on the roadside.”
The announcement reportedly led many devotees to return without darshan, while others remained outside the ashram seeking further information.
Reports link indefinite postponement to health concerns
The ashram administration has not released a detailed official statement explaining the indefinite postponement. However, media reports have suggested that the decision may be linked to Premanand Maharaj’s health condition.
According to reports associated with Kelly Kunj Ashram, Maharajji has been dealing with kidney-related health issues for nearly 21 years, and his health has reportedly worsened recently. No official medical update has been publicly shared so far.
Apart from the padyatra, reports also suggest that private darshan and certain spiritual interactions connected to the daily routine have been paused until further notice.
Followers urged to avoid rumours and wait for official updates
People associated with the ashram have appealed to devotees to remain patient and avoid rumours or unverified claims while waiting for further communication.
Premanand Maharaj’s spiritual discourses and padyatra have built a large following over the years, with videos of his teachings widely watched online. For now, many devotees are hoping the pause is temporary and waiting for updates regarding the resumption of the spiritual gatherings.
