Tollywood marks Dasari Day with a salute to Balki
In a grand ceremony celebrating cinematic excellence and the enduring legacy of the legendary filmmaker Dasari Narayana Rao, acclaimed director R Balki was honoured with the prestigious Dasari Award in Hyderabad on Monday.
Directors Day
The event coincided with “Directors’ Day,” a date established by the Telugu film fraternity to mark the birth anniversary of the late Darsaka Ratna Dasari Narayana Rao. The gala, titled ‘The Creators Fest,’ saw a gathering of the industry’s stalwarts at Shilpakala Vedika to recognise filmmakers who have pushed the boundaries of Indian storytelling.

The love and passion audiences here have for films is unmatched. There are so many directors I deeply admire, especially Singeetam Sreenivas garu. Hats off to the Telugu film industry for organising such inspiring events,” Balki says.
Director Ram Jagadeesh
Ram Jagadeesh, who was presented with the Dasari Debut Director Award for his film Court: State vs a Nobody, expressed his gratitude to the legends present. “There are so many great directors on this stage; I don’t even feel worthy to speak among them. TFDA is doing incredible work. I feel fortunate to be part of the Telugu film industry as a director,” he said.Reflections on a legend: Tributes to Dasari Narayana Rao“I will always feel the void of Dasari garu, who was like a father to me. I am happy that this award is being given to Hindi film director R Balki garu. Dasari garu is the only person who truly defined what a ‘director’ means. It is heartening to see all Telugu film directors coming together for such an event. As long as the film industry exists, Dasari garu’s name will live on forever”Mohan Babu

“I stand here today only because of my guru Dasari garu. His absence is something we feel even now and will always feel. He left an unforgettable mark on my film journey. This award is greater than any other award. Many great directors are emerging in the industry, and I hope everyone participates in future editions of this Creators’ Fest”Jayasudha

I am a big fan of Dasari garu and actually watched his film from long ago, Premabhishekam. When I was in Bangalore, I used to watch a lot of his films.
