Aashiq Abu is arguably one of the trendsetting directors in Mollywood, with his two back-to-back hits Salt N Pepper and 22 Female Kottayam. While his debut flick
Daddy Cool might have had many takers after
Mammootty came on board, we recently learned that actor
Kunchacko Boban, who was going through a lean phase in his acting career in 2009, was set to venture into production with the same movie.
The actor, who has now renewed his interest in production, recalls, I had set out to produce
Daddy Cool first. But, it didnt fall through.
While the Aniyathipraavu actors plans didnt work out, producer Alwyn Anthony went on to make the film. Interestingly, Alwyn, who was in talks for
Dr Love when
Prithviraj was attached to the project, had dropped out of that film to fund
Daddy Cool and Kunchacko ended up doing the lead role of
Dr Love last year. Now, Kunchacko, who is better-placed in his acting career, says, The current situation in Mollywood is such that, anyone can easily produce films. Since I want my film to be a good one, its taking more time than expected.
