Construction of the new Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Bhandup, will connect the east & west of the suburb & enable seamless walkability eliminating long detours & unsafe track crossings for daily commuters travelling to & from either side of the suburb.

The FOB will provide an important crossing point across one of the busiest railway lines (Central Line) providing a safe crossing for thousands of pedestrians currently having to use congested road crossings & far away bridges.

The FOB when completed will significantly shorten the walking distance for Office Workers, School Students & the Elderly travelling between Residential Areas, Railway Stations & Business Districts on both sides of Bhandup.

The planned Access Points located near Bhandup Station will provide for an easier way to transfer between trains & pedestrians located at existing Stations, resulting in less congestion on current access points during rush-hour periods.

By diverting pedestrian traffic off busy roads and level crossings, the FOB is expected to reduce surface-level congestion and improve vehicular flow along adjoining arterial roads in Bhandup.

The FOB is being designed with improved safety features i.e.; strong railings, anti-skid surfaces & sufficient lighting to ensure 24-hour use, especially during peak periods & late evening/early morning.

Once completed, the bridge is likely to benefit thousands of users daily, offering a safer, quicker and more convenient option for crossing the railway line and improving overall commuting experience in Bhandup.

The FOB forms part of Mumbai’s broader push to improve last-mile connectivity and pedestrian infrastructure, especially in railway-dominated suburbs where tracks continue to divide neighbourhoods.
