Sanjay Dutt starrer 'Aakhri Sawal' release delayed; CBFC review holds up the certification process -- Reports

Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Abhijeet Mohan Warang, known for Picasso, 'Aakhri Sawal' features a large ensemble cast spanning multiple generations. The release of 'Aakhri Sawal,' starring Sanjay Dutt, is now unlikely to happen on its scheduled date of May 8. The film is reportedly facing delays due to pending censor certification, which has also affected the clearance of its trailer. The situation has pushed the makers to reconsider their release timeline.As per reports from Bollywood Hungama, the film was earlier slated for a May 8 theatrical release but is now expected to miss the date due to ongoing issues with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The trailer has also not received clearance yet, and both the film and promotional content remain under review.According to Bollywood Hungama, “The nature of the film and its plot is such that the CBFC members are being cautious. The makers have explained to the CBFC committee that their film is based on historical events and records and hence deserves to be released. The discussions between the makers and the CBFC have taken a lot of time. Hence, the producers of Aakhri Sawal felt that it would be wise to push the film to a later date.”May 15 is now being considered as the new release window for Sanjay Dutt's film.Following the delay, the makers are now considering May 15 as a possible new release date. However, the final decision depends entirely on receiving censor certification within the required timeline. The release strategy will only be confirmed once the clearance process is completed. According to the report, “At present, the makers are considering releasing their film on May 15. Of course, this will be subject to receiving the censor certification on time. An announcement on the same can be expected soon once the hurdles are cleared.”The screenplay, story, and dialogues for 'Aakhri Sawal' have been written by Utkarsh Naithani. The music is composed by Monty Sharma, while lyrics are penned by Kumar Vishwas. Alongside Sanjay Dutt, the cast includes Namashi Chakraborty, Amit Sadh, Sameera Reddy, Neetu Chandra, Tridha Choudhury, Mrinal Kulkarni, Nikhil Nanda, Archana Iyer, and Bipin Nadkarni.Interestingly, Aakhri Sawal was originally planned for a May 15 release earlier in its production phase. However, the date was later preponed to May 8 just last month.Meanwhile, Sanjay Dutt's recent outing is 'KD: The Devil.'
