Ethan Slater offered fans a rare peek into his relationship with Ariana Grande during the holiday season. The actor shared a series of personal moments featuring Grande on his Instagram Stories, keeping the gesture low-key yet heartfelt.

On Friday, December 26, Slater posted photos of Grande relaxing and celebrating the holidays. In one image she was seen cuddling with a dog. In another, she laughs while sitting on a couch beside a man, clearly at ease in the moment. Over the photo, Slater wrote, “Very merry holidays.” Grande kept her look sleek and understated. She wore an all-black outfit with a turtleneck, wide-leg pants, and platform heels. She styled her hair in a neat updo, finishing the look with a white headband and pearl earrings.

From ‘Wicked’ to quiet support at ‘Saturday Night Live’

Slater and Grande first met while filming ‘Wicked’ in 2022. Their relationship was confirmed by a source in July 2023. Since then, the couple has largely stayed private online. However, Slater did share a special moment earlier this year when Grande celebrated her Oscar nomination for ‘Wicked’ in January 2025.

Most recently, Slater showed his support when Grande hosted ‘Saturday Night Live’ on December 21. He appeared in backstage photos shared by her friend and former ‘Victorious’ co-star Liz Gillies. One image showed Gillies, Slater, and actor Aaron Simon Gross seated together on a couch. Other photos captured Grande in various costumes from the episode.

Gillies praised Grande in her caption, writing, “Nobody does it like you, dingus. What a treat it is to watch you use your many talents and gifts and use them so effortlessly well.”

She added, “Another brilliant episode. Not to mention- it was the marvelous @fayedunaway’s last episode. AND- CHER! PLUS CHRISTMAS! I fear my heart might’ve grown three sizes last night.”

Slater praises Grande and the ‘Wicked’ cast

In a November interview with Extra at the New York City premiere of the second ‘Wicked’ film, Slater spoke openly about Grande’s performance. He said, “Ariana [Grande]'s performance is out of this world and Cynthia [Erivo]’s performance is unbelievable.”

He also praised the rest of the cast, adding, “And Johnny [Bailey] is so beautiful, and Michelle [Yeoh] and Jeff [Goldblum] and I got to work with Marissa [Bode], you know, from this close away for this whole movie and yet getting to see her on the big screen, it's just so moving.”

Slater concluded by reflecting on the film and Grande’s bond with Erivo. “I'm so proud of this movie and it’s so different from the first one, and yet it feels like the obvious true continuation of it,” he said.

He also noted, “They really do just communicate off camera even more than they do on camera. And I think that that's what makes their friendship really beautiful to witness is the ways that they help each other through… the craziness of this.”

Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande have been dating since 2023, and the two tend to keep most of their relationship under wraps and away from the public eye. Through all of this, the couple still does not shy away from showing their support for one another.
