Sometimes, dreams take time. And sometimes, they return exactly when they are meant to. For actor
Rishav Basu,
Phool Pishi O Edward is not just another film — it is the fulfilment of a wish he had quietly carried for nearly a decade.
Long before stepping into the mysterious world of
Phool Pishi O Edward, Rishav had first collaborated with filmmakers Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy in 2016 for
Anupam Roy’s music video
Histrogen. Though brief, that experience stayed with him for years.
Recalling the journey, Rishav shared, “I worked with Shibu da and Nandita di on Anupam Roy’s music video
Histrogen in 2016. Finally, after almost 10 years, in 2026, Shibu da called me regarding this film and the character. Honestly, I was overwhelmed. It felt surreal, almost dreamlike.”
What makes the story even more emotional is what followed after
Histrogen. The collaboration everyone hoped would continue… simply didn’t happen. But Rishav never quite let go of that desire.
That long-awaited reunion finally arrived with
Phool Pishi O Edward — the upcoming mystery drama directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee. Speaking about working with the filmmaker duo again, Rishav described the experience as nothing short of magical.
“When two completely different personalities like them come together, it creates magic.”
“Shibu da is extremely energetic, passionate and emotionally involved in every scene. His excitement is infectious. Whenever he enacted scenes for me, I would wonder how I could possibly match that energy and emotion as an actor.” And balancing that energy is Nandita di’s quiet warmth.
“On the other hand, Nandita di is incredibly calm and motherly. I had noticed this even during the music video days. She gives very subtle inputs — sometimes just one tiny suggestion — but when you perform it, it transforms the entire scene magically. Beyond direction, she also takes care of the entire unit like a family.” Nearly ten years after
Histrogen, what began as admiration quietly turned into manifestation. And with
Phool Pishi O Edward, that dream has finally found its way back home.
