Vaniyambadi election results 2026: IUML candidate wins seat by 2,982 votes in closely fought contest

IUML’s Syed Farooq Basha secured victory with 73,181 votes, winning by a margin of 2,982 votes. He was followed by TVK candidate Syed Bhurhanuideen, who polled 70,199 votes, while AIADMK’s G. Sendhil Kumar finished third with 61,055 votes. Vaniyambadi witnessed a competitive three-cornered contest between AIADMK, IUML and TVK.In the 2021 Assembly elections, G Senthilkumar (AIADMK) won with 88,018 votes, defeating IUML’s N Mohammad Nayeem, who secured 83,114 votes, by a margin of 4,904 votes. In 2016, AIADMK’s Nilofer had won with 69,588 votes, defeating IUML’s Syed Farooq, who secured 55,062 votes, by a margin of 14,526 votes.Vaniyambadi recorded steady voter participation, reflecting continued electoral engagement in this constituency.Vaniyambadi (Assembly Constituency), located in Tamil Nadu, has witnessed electoral contests mainly among AIADMK, IUML and DMK over the years. In 2011, AIADMK’s Sampath Kumar Govi won with 80,563 votes, defeating DMK’s H Abdul Basith, who secured 62,338 votes, by a margin of 18,225 votes.Tamil Nadu went to polls on April 23.
