Royapuram election results 2026: TVK’s Vijay Damu wins by 14,249 votes

Royapuram has delivered a clear result, with Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s K V Vijay Damu winning the seat by a comfortable margin. With counting complete (15/15 rounds), Vijay Damu secured 59,091 votes, defeating DMK’s Dr A Subair Khan, who polled 44,842 votes. AIADMK’s D Jayakumar finished third with 18,420 votes.In the 2021 Assembly elections, Murthy R Idream (DMK) won with 64,424 votes. In 2016, AIADMK’s Jayakumar D had secured victory with 55,205 votes.Royapuram recorded steady voter participation, reflecting continued electoral engagement in this urban constituency.Royapuram (Assembly Constituency No. 17), is a historic coastal and inner-city seat in North Chennai, shaped by its maritime legacy, working-class neighbourhoods and strong community identities.Tamil Nadu went to polls on April 23.
