Poonamallee election results 2026: TVK’s Prakasam wins by 72,740 votes

Poonamallee has delivered a sweeping verdict in favour of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, with R Prakasam securing a commanding win in a high-stakes three-cornered contest. With counting complete (25/25 rounds), Prakasam polled 1,61,309 votes, defeating DMK’s A Krishnaswamy by a massive margin of 72,740 votes. Krishnaswamy finished with 88,569 votes, while AMMK’s T A Elumalai trailed with 43,280 votes.The scale of the victory marks a dramatic shift in the constituency, signalling a clear rejection of the incumbent DMK in what was expected to be a competitive race. Instead, the result turned into a one-sided contest, with TVK emerging as the dominant force across segments.Prakasam’s campaign appears to have resonated strongly with a broad cross-section of voters, particularly in rapidly urbanising pockets where infrastructure, governance, and employment opportunities remain key concerns.
